Former Camden County magistrate judge, two others arrested amid ongoing investigation: GBI

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – A former Camden County magistrate judge has been arrested amid an ongoing investigation led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office said.

The magistrate judge, William Ashe, along with Dennis Cox and Merinda Watson, all turned themselves in and were booked into the Camden County Jail, the agency added.

No further details of the investigation were released.

The case remains under the jurisdiction of the GBI.

Duties of magistrate judges vary by state, but they are authorized to preside over almost every type of federal trial proceeding except for felony cases, according to the Federal Bar Association.
