ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A Georgia woman has filed a lawsuit against the owners of a popular St. Augustine bar claiming that a falling martini shaker hit her in the head and caused “pain and suffering,” and the bar is at fault.

According to the lawsuit filed in St. Johns County court in May, Ruth Blake was at The Tini Martini Bar in downtown St. Augustine in 2023 when she was hit in the head by the shaker that fell from the second floor to the ground below.

She argues that the bar negligently permitted patrons to shake their own cocktails, which led to the injuries.

Blake said negligence by the bar led to bodily injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent injury and disfigurement and scarring, according to the lawsuit.

Blake is demanding a jury trial and at least $50,000 in damages.

The bar, Casa Blanca Inn on the Bay, where the bar is located, as well as the owner of the bar, Nancy Cloud, are all named in the lawsuit.

News4JAX called Tini Martini, and the person who picked up the phone said they would not be providing a comment pending the ongoing civil suit.

According to court records, a case management conference is set for November.
