Burrito Gallery closes its Riverside location, ending the local chain’s run in Jacksonville after 20 years

Sign on the door confirms the business is no longer in operation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Burrito Gallery, a popular local restaurant, closed its Riverside location on Tuesday, ending the local chain’s run in Jacksonville after 20 years.

Burrito Gallery was known in Jacksonville for its fast-casual Southwestern menu, which it described as “Jax Mex.” Recently, multiple locations have closed. The Jacksonville Beach location closed and was converted into a bank. The Jacksonville Adams Street location closed, and a new restaurant business is there.

The most recent closure in the Riverside area is among a strip mall of other restaurants and retail. It was the last of what was once four locations that debuted in 2005.

A sign on the door confirms that the business is closed, but there is no explanation why.

“Thank you for years of patronage,” the sign reads. “With heavy hearts, Burrito Gallery is now closed. We have truly enjoyed serving our community, providing memories, great food, and margaritas! We thank you!

While I was there, two employees showed up. They told me off-camera they were told to come to work to help ‘clean up,’ but there was no one there to let them into the business.

The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation lists the Burrito Gallery’s license as “Delinquent, Active.”

Officials said Burrito Gallery passed its June 2, 2025, routine food inspection.

There was a partial complaint filed in June 2023.

There were five consumer complaints from 2016 to 2023, but three of the five allegations were not found.
