‘We want to thank everybody’: Family, friends relieved after missing girls found safe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two children who were last seen on Tuesday after boarding a bus were found safe Wednesday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the 11-year-old and a 10-year-old left a home on Lippia Road around 3 p.m. Tuesday to ride a bus to a local park on Benedict Road. Police said family members reported the children missing at 3:40 a.m. when they didn’t return home.

Vontricia Woody, a longtime friend and community member, said she couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.

“We want to thank JSO, we want to thank all the news media out there, we want to thank everyone that posted on Facebook. We want to thank everyone that shared the post. We just want to thank everybody, we want to thank God they was found safe and it wasn’t the worst, but whoever had them in their house, you wrong,” Woody said.
