High-risk traffic stop shuts down southbound lanes of I-75 in Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday evening all southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at mile marker 376 were shut down as officials responded to a high-risk traffic stop.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of a semi-truck that failed to stop for deputies for several miles was taken into custody. However, deputies added that the driver appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency, so they turned him over to rescue personnel.
