ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – At least one man with a felony immigration warrant ran into the woods in St. Johns County on Monday morning following a traffic stop on Interstate 95, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

A Florida Department of Transportation camera showed several law enforcement vehicles on the shoulder of I-95 South near International Golf Parkway, with their lights flashing.

The sheriff’s office stated that it assisted Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a search for two people who fled from a traffic stop initiated by the agency. Any information about the search should be requested through CBP, the sheriff’s office told News4JAX.

Starting around 9:40 a.m., traffic was backed up in both directions on I-95.

As of 10:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said they were still searching for the man.

By 11 a.m., law enforcement vehicles left the scene and traffic started flowing more smoothly.
