Torrens was being treated at a hospital in Clay County before he was taken into JSO custody.

When JSO Corrections Officers with the Fugitive Transportation Unit picked Torrens up on May 19, they took him directly to a local hospital in Jacksonville.

He died at the Jacksonville hospital on Tuesday morning, JSO said.

JSO said Torrens’ violation of probation charge stemmed from his local arrest on Feb. 18 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (domestic).
