ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – During severe storms that slammed various areas in Northeast Florida, cameras caught a glimpse of what looked like a tornado forming in St. Johns County.
On Friday, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado briefly touched down Thursday evening.

Large branches were snapped from trees in the Cimarrone Golf Club area in addition to damage to a storage shed.
The tornado moved northeastward and dissipated over a retention pond along SR-9B.
According to the National Weather Service’s preliminary damage survey, the tornado had estimated peak winds of 85 mph and traveled 1.6 miles.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office shared a traffic camera at State Road 9B and St. Johns Parkway that picked up the tornado.

SJCS said there were no injuries, but the storm left behind downed trees and power lines.
A News4JAX viewer was in traffic when she saw the funnel forming and whipped out her phone.
The Loop Restaurant in Nocatee was also hit with damage. The outdoor awning collapsed, completely folding right down the middle.
The National Weather Service will conducted a survey of the area on Friday, which confirmed the EF-0 tornado.
Chief Meteorologist Richard Nunn explained the events leading to the formation of the tornado following severe storms.
