JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Time’s up for the last remaining tenants at the Regency Square Mall in Arlington.
Once a thriving hub for shoppers, Sunday marks the end of a nearly 60-year era as the last remaining tenants pack up and say their final goodbyes to the deteriorating mall, which has faced nearly $1.8 million in fines for multiple code violations.
The mall’s interior space will officially close on Sunday, leaving the last two businesses to close shop, according to our news partners at the Jacksonville Daily Record. At one point, more than 150 retailers filled the mall.
Tokyo Sakura, located in what’s left of the food court, and Rogers Jewelers will close on May 31.
Tokyo Sakura will be open for a half-day to use all its remaining inventory. Rogers Jewelers will close at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Starting June 1, there will be no public access to the mall’s main interior.
Lauren’s Seafood Blues & Jazz restaurant and the Rhythm Factory event space will remain open since those businesses have access from the outside of the mall.

Blackwater Development LLC plans to redevelop the property and change the name to The Nexus at Regency. The transformation will include a mix of new businesses and housing.
City Councilman Ken Amaro, who represents Arlington, has called the developments “well overdue.”
The Dillard’s Clearance Center, the closed Sears and Impact Church were not part of the mall purchase.
Earlier this year, Sporting Club Jacksonville, which is an expansion franchise from the United Soccer League, announced that the old Sears property was one of 55 locations for a potential stadium.
Local residents have been expressing excitement on the potential and future for the mall after it was bought out.
