GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – At least 3,000 Clay County residents lost power on Thursday as storms swept through Northeast Florida.
According to the Clay Electric Cooperative Outage Map, 3,061 customers in the area were without power just before 5:45 p.m., with over 1,000 residing in Green Cove Springs.

The map also shows nearly 800 people without power in Putnam County.
The power outages were reported alongside National Weather Service reports of fallen trees and pea-sized hail moving through the area accompanied by downpours of rain.
Video taken by News4JAX reporter Erik Avanier while driving along J Turner Butler shows some of the rain’s intensity.
JEA’s outage map also showed some outages in the Jacksonville area, which a spokesperson attributed to the storm, adding that crews are working to restore power “safely and quickly.”
NWS also reported trees falling down near Asbury Lake and a funnel cloud forming near Green Cove Springs.

It is unclear when power will be restored.
