Drivers urged to be cautious due to active 800-acre forest fire in the area of SR-19 in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol urged drivers on Thursday to use caution when traveling in the area of State Road 19 in Putnam County due to an active 800-acre forest fire.

According to FHP, the fire may affect travel on SR-19 near the Ocala National Forest throughout the day, night and into the morning hours.

Troopers said visibility may deteriorate “quickly,” especially during the nighttime and early morning, and reminded drivers to reduce their speed and use their low-beam headlights to adapt to the changing conditions.
