“This is a long overdue improvement for visitors and great example of your fee dollars at work,” said Superintendent Trenchik. “We really appreciate the support of the City of St. Marys, Georgia during this work.”

“We are proud to support the National Park Service in this important infrastructure project,” said Robby Horton, City Manager of St. Marys. “Cumberland Island National Seashore is a vital part of our community’s heritage and economy, and we are committed to ensuring that visitors continue to have a smooth and welcoming experience during the construction period.”

Parking lot improvements include dedicated handicap parking, permeable pavers in order to maintain proper drainage and level parking surface, better entrance and exit lot, and designated parking spaces.

They recommend that visitors unload at the visitor center before parking in the alternate area on Bartlett Street.

Allow time to complete this before ferry boarding and orientation. The ferry leaves promptly.

They ask that you use alternate parking at Oak Grove Cemetery on Bartlett St.

  • Park facing the cemetery
  • Overnight parking permitted
  • Do not block roadways
