JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – New details released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday describe what led up to a woman getting shot twice in a Jacksonville Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru on Tuesday evening.
JSO said the shooting victim told investigators she was at her ex-girlfriend’s parents’ house during the day “to discuss the mental condition of her ex-girlfriend and to get her cell phone back from her ex’s mother, who took the phone.”

The victim told police that her ex’s stepfather, Tommie Taylor, was giving her a ride to what he thought was the victim’s home, according to Taylor’s arrest report, but they ended up at the Dunkin’ on Gate Parkway.
Police said when Taylor arrived, the victim tried to exit the car while they were in the drive-thru. The details of what happened next were redacted in the report, but police said Taylor shot the victim in the back of the head and the shoulder, then drove off.
JSO said the incident happened around 5:35 p.m. The victim went into the Dunkin’ and said she had been shot.
A witness said he heard two gunshots and saw a woman flee from Taylor’s car, and saw him close the door and drive away.
Police said there was a bullet hole in the victim’s left shoulder and a bullet graze on the back of her head. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police found Taylor driving on the Northside and stopped him after a pursuit. He was then taken into custody.
JSO said Taylor was uncooperative with detectives and refused to sign his Miranda rights when interviewed. He nodded his head when asked if he understood his rights, but would not give a verbal response acknowledging that he understood his rights.
JSO said Taylor, 48, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer after a crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and if you have any information about the incident, call 904-630-0500.
