Putnam County deputies, FWC looking for missing kayaker in St. Johns River (WJXT)

ST. JOHNS RIVER, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday it is searching around the Memorial Bridge in the St. Johns River for a missing kayaker.

The agency said its deputies, along with officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, received calls about a man who may have fallen out of his kayak around 5:30 p.m.

They add that they were able to locate the kayak but are still searching for the man.

“We have had the sheriff’s office helicopter helping in the search,” officials said.

The search was suspended on Wednesday night. Officials hope to resume on Thursday.
