JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A recent fire at the JAX hourly garage has left many vehicle owners in a state of uncertainty, including a Nassau County man.

Hall, a real estate agent and subcontractor who installs commercial ice and water dispensing machines, parked at the airport before heading to New Hampshire to assist his mother.
“I figured I would park in the hourly garage, even though I knew it might cost a little bit more,” he said.
However, upon his return, he learned that access to the garage was restricted, leaving him without his essential truck.
“I was under the impression we would be able to be escorted to our vehicles once we returned,” he said. “However, that was not the case, and there was really no contact or communication in any way.”
After tracking down an employee for information, he said he was informed that he could either use Uber or Lyft to get home or find a taxi.
“Ultimately, I paid $140 for a taxi ride, which I described as substantial for a 38-minute trip,” he noted.
As Hall navigates this frustrating situation, he is left wondering about the fate of his truck.
“I do rely on our truck,” he said. “It’s vital to my livelihood. I have no idea if it’s even drivable or if it’s covered in smoke damage,” he noted.
Hall said that he called the team in charge of surveying vehicles and they told him they didn’t have any information.
The airport team told News4JAX that as of Wednesday, they do not have information on his car specifically. The number to call is 904-741-2710.
Hall is concerned about what to do now.
“I hear that if your vehicle is damaged, they want you to go through your insurance company as far as filing a claim,” he explained. “I’m not a real big fan of that idea. If I start losing wages because I can’t complete jobs, then we’re going to be talking serious numbers,” he said.
As the investigation into the fire continues, Hall hopes for clarity regarding his truck and the insurance process.
“If that one’s totaled, let me know so I can move forward,” he said. “I don’t like the idea of paying a deductible, but I need some sort of a truck at some point.”
