WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Florida Gators men’s basketball team visited the White House, where they were honored as national champions on Wednesday.
The Gators won the NCAA basketball championship against Houston back in April.
The historic win makes the University of Florida the only school to have won 3 NCAA Division I titles in both men’s basketball and football.
Trump noted that Florida was the only school to have a trio of NCAA titles in basketball and football. The last time the school achieved that feat was in 2006 and 2007.
Head Coach Todd Golden gifted the president with an autographed team basketball and a personalized jersey with the number 47 on the back.
“Mr. President, thank you so much, and to show a token of our appreciation, we have an autographed team basketball and a Donald Trump jersey with number 47 on it. Thank you all very much. Go gators,” Golden said.
