Friday was a record-breaking high of 97 degrees.

“Whenever it gets to this type of heat we have right now, we always want to make sure we get people out of the heat,” Deegan said.

The city buses were used to assist travelers as they made plans for their next steps due to the abrupt disruption.

“All these people that you see walking out with their luggage actually have a place to go to make their plan for what they are going to do,” Deegan said.

The airport reopened at 5 p.m.

As a safety precaution, the hourly garage will remain closed to make sure there are no structural deficiencies.
