JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) police officer was arrested Sunday and accused of multiple charges, including domestic battery by strangulation.
According to a news release sent out by DCPS on Tuesday, school police officer Kevens Louis, 30, was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) and accused of false imprisonment and dating violence.

DCPS said Louis, who began employment with the district in September 2021, worked as a school police officer but was not assigned to a particular school.
Following the arrest, he was stripped of all law enforcement authority. Employment status will be addressed upon his release from jail, DCPS said.
According to jail records, he was released from jail on Monday after posting bond.
“While the presumption of innocence applies, I am incredibly disappointed by these allegations as they fall short of the high standards required of our school police officers,” said Duval School Police Chief Jackson Short.
