St. Johns County to have new bus tracking system next school year

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Johns County parents will have a new system next school year to track their kids’ buses.

The district is rolling out BusPlanner, a new online transportation portal designed to provide parents with easy access to their students’ bus information.

The school district is currently using the Home Access Center, or HAC. But that will no longer be accessible when the 2025-26 school year begins.

Parents can access BusPlanner through the web portal at sjcsd.mybusplanner.com. or by downloading the Chipmunk mobile app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.

The QR code can be used to take you directly to the website.

BusPlanner will also enhance communication by providing timely updates regarding bus delays and other important transportation notifications, the district says.

Parents can use the system to send messages directly to the Transportation Department, and the department can send real-time updates to parents.

“We can immediately notify every parent on that route, only the ones that are affected by the time change, and the drivers affected by the time change. And that’s it, so no one else from the school, from that bus route, will get that information but the people who need it,” said Phil Rizzo, Assistant Transportation Director.

To get started, families should create an account on the BusPlanner website or the Chipmunk app using the same email address associated with their HAC account.

SJCSD encourages all families with bus riders to register early and stay informed as the upcoming school year approaches.

The transportation department said it manages 26,000 kids every single day, and says that this will make things easier for them.
