There was lots of excitement in the crowd as supporters packed into the Miller Electric Center to catch a glimpse of the No. 2 overall pick, Travis Hunter.

“More than any other year, the excitement behind our first pick in Travis Hunter is just exciting,” Rico Smith said.

Hunter, a two-way phenom, joined his fellow rookies on the field for a mini-camp open to fans. This rookie class is bringing high expectations from the Jacksonville faithful.

“Today was a lot cleaner,” head coach Liam Coen said. “You could feel the energy from the fans. [The players] were obviously gassed up to have people around.”

Nearly 2,000 fans took to the stands dressed in their jerseys and Jaguars merchandise. Some even headed to the team story to add a new No. 12 jersey to their closet.

The event provided an opportunity for families to enjoy time together while watching the rookies get acclimated to the NFL.

“As a father, especially a father that grew up without a father, it’s everything to me,” Smith said. “This is the hard work, the sacrifice that you grind every day for. To one day have the opportunity to do that. It’s everything to me.”

Rico attended the event with his 10-year-old son, Karter, who shared his enthusiasm for seeing players like Travis Hunter take the field on Sundays in a Jaguars uniform.

“I’m going to feel like the Jags made the right choice in the draft, and I hope to see him in this stadium playing this season,” Karter said.
