The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane departed from Clearwater Air Park and was headed to Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport.

A woman who lives near where the crash happened has tarp on her fence because it caught fire when the plane crashed. She said it frightened her because had it landed any closer, her house could have been gone.

“Fast heartbeat, scared and just knew we had to get out because it was an active fire,” the woman said.

Authorities urge the public to avoid the area as the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigate.

Any witnesses with video of the incident are asked to contact Florida Highway Patrol.

All roads in the area that were closed due to this incident are now open.
