Nesting season for sea turtles is from May through October.

Many species of sea turtles found in Florida are considered to be endangered or threatened, which is why beach cleanups are essential during this season.

A clean and clear beach is vital to ensuring a clear path to the water and safe nest building for sea turtles.

The volunteer event runs from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.

The cleanups will take place in Mickler’s Landing, GTM NERR South Beach, Surfside Park, Vilano Beach, Anastasia State Park, 10th Street St. Augustine Beach, Crescent Beach, and Ft. Matanzas Beach.
