PALATKA, Fla. – The Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School was put on a brief lockdown on Thursday after a man brought what was initially believed to be a firearm on campus.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Tommy Watts, 40, entered the school’s basketball court area with what appeared to be a gun.

Deputies immediately responded to the call around 3:30 p.m. after the school went into lockdown.
The PCSO said Watts resisted deputies but was in custody within three minutes.
It was discovered that he had a BB gun instead of a firearm.
Watts was arrested and charged with resisting law enforcement without violence.
The school released under its normal schedule.
