Fugitive arrested over a month after skipping sentencing in case related to death of Beauty Max employee

Ilson Miriam Kim died in December after police said she tried to stop a theft at Beauty Max and was hit by a getaway driver

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than a month after skipping her sentencing, a woman involved in the death of a Beauty Max employee in December is back in custody, court records show.

Tashina Dobbins was arrested Tuesday. She previously pleaded guilty to felony petty theft related to the December incident that led to the death of Ilson Miriam Kim.

During the shoplifting at the Southside beauty supply store, Kim was run over by the getaway driver while trying to stop the theft.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Beauty Max on Atlantic Boulevard in the Kernan Village shopping plaza.

“Two individuals entered into the business, one of the individuals grabbed several items and ran out of the store with those items,” Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said at the time. “A store employee followed this individual to her car, which was ready for this person.”

Kim was taken to a hospital, but later died.

David Pulliam Jr. is also facing charges in connection with the case.

Dobbins, who pleaded guilty, was initially released on her own recognizance but failed to show up for her sentencing.

Her actions, including skipping court, may impact her sentence, which could be up to five years in prison.
