MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – Family, friends and fellow teammates paid tribute to a 5-year-old boy who drowned in a Middleburg pool.

The Argyle Athletic Association confirmed that the child was Marcus Rivers III, who played on the Argyle Aces T-ball team.

On Friday, his loved ones and teammates gathered for a vigil in his memory.

They wore royal blue and Sonic the Hedgehog apparel to remember a life gone too soon. His mother also hit a T-ball signed by all of his teammates.

The team retired Rivers’ #13, and the field will be renamed Marcus “Rookie” Rivers the Third Field.
