There was blood on the fence as well.
JSO said a 58-year-old man, who had been drinking, was standing over the two injured individuals with two butcher knives in his hands.
Zheng told the man to drop the knives, but according to JSO, he refused and attempted to attack the individuals again.
The officer shot the man, JSO said. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
JSO said the three individuals involved in the incident knew each other, but the extent of their relationship was unclear.
They also said that the man had been drinking all day.
The injured individuals were believed to be OK, but they were still under evaluation.
Zheng has been with JSO for seven years, and this was his first officer-involved incident.
This marked the agency’s 7th officer-involved shooting this year.
