Woman seriously hurt, man in critical condition after head-on crash on US-1 in Nassau County

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Two drivers were transported to a hospital Monday night after being involved in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 1 in Nassau County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 10:11 p.m., a 25-year-old woman from Jacksonville Beach was driving a white Chrysler 200 southbound on US-1 within the inside northbound lane, troopers said.

It is unclear why the woman was traveling in the wrong lane.

At the same time, a 25-year-old man from Tampa was driving a black Toyota Corolla northbound on US-1 inside the northbound lane, troopers said.

The cars collided head-on, according to FHP.

Both drivers were transported to UF Health Jacksonville following the crash.

The woman suffered serious injuries, and the man was transported in critical condition, according to the FHP report.

FHP said this investigation is still ongoing.
