ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County School Board takes the next step Friday in its search for a new superintendent.
Current Superintendent Tim Forson will retire at the end of June, prompting the school board to seek his replacement.
The 10 semifinalists announced earlier are expected to be narrowed to a short list of finalists during a 4 p.m. meeting Friday at the SJCSD Administrative Building at 40 Orange Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
The applications for the 10 semifinalists are available for public viewing on the school district’s website.
Current semifinalists:
- Corey L. Wright is the Chief of Accountability, Research, and Strategy at Duval County Public Schools.
- Scott J. Schneider is the Chief of Schools at Duval County Public Schools.
- Jessica Richardson is the Senior Director of Exceptional Student Education for St. Johns County Schools.
- Dr. Brennan Asplen acts as the Deputy Superintendent of Operations for St. Johns County Schools.
- Dr. Marianna Simon is the Region Superintendent at Duval County Public Schools.
- Dr. Kyle Dresback acts as the Regional Superintendent for Secondary and Alternative Schools.
- Sherri Forrest is the Chief Academic Officer and Executive Director to the superintendent at Atlanta Public Schools.
- Dr. Randy L. Mahlerwein acts as Assistant Superintendent Secondary at Mesa Public Schools.
- Luis Solano is the Deputy Superintendent for Detroit Public Schools Community District.
- Dr. Patrick Carmichael is a visiting professor at the University of North Florida.
Next steps
In-person interviews with the finalists are scheduled for May 13. The interviews will be public and begin at 8:30 a.m. during a special meeting of the school board.
At 6 p.m. on May 13, a meet-and-greet is scheduled at First Coast Technical College.
On May 20, the board is expected to select a superintendent and begin contract negotiations.
