LAKE CITY, Fla. – A day after releasing a video and asking for the public to share any information on an Easter celebration shooting that left an officer injured, the Lake City Police Department announced an arrest.
Justin Le’on Claridy, 25, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Claridy, who was released from prison just last week, was arrested Thursday, police said.

According to LCPD, its officers and deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were providing crowd control at an Easter Celebration held at the Annie Mattox Recreation Center, with a couple of thousand people in attendance.
During the event, police said, a fight broke out and when law enforcement tried to break it up, several people fired weapons.
The video released Thursday by LCPD showed a man firing a weapon into the crowd while retreating.
A Lake City police officer was shot in the right arm during the incident. He was taken to a nearby trauma center for treatment and was expected to recover after surgery.
The FDLE was called in to investigate, and three people were taken into custody and interviewed by detectives. The three people were accused of other crimes not connected to the shooting.
Following rumors in the wake of the shooting, LCPD Chief Gerald Butler said, “No officers or deputies discharged their service weapons during this incident.”
Police are still looking for information about the incident.
