‘Intangibly rich’ is the favorite phrase of the new Jaguars GM. What does it mean to you?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Intangibly rich.

It’s the favorite phrase of new Jacksonville Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone.

In one recent pre-draft news conference, Gladstone used the phrase five times to describe the kinds of players the team is looking for as it builds out its roster following a disappointing season.

Gladstone, who had some fun with the media over his use of the phrase, has used it to describe players who have valuable qualities that are not easily quantifiable, such as toughness, resilience, and character.

Travis Hunter, the star two-way Colorado player whom the Jaguars traded up to get on Thursday, has it, Gladstone said.

But what does it mean to you?

We went around Jacksonville and asked people what Intangibly rich meant to them, and do they think Hunter brings that to the team.

Roxy Marrese: “So it probably means that X factor, that slight swag that brings something to the team that gets everybody going…everybody pumped up."

Sephora Crane: “It’s something that they’re looking for that’s not necessarily seen, along the lines of what you were saying, that character, kind of like that celebrity superstar. Definitely that character and that celebrity aspect of Travis coming in on top of the talent. It gives us an edge.”

Scott McKnight: “Intangible, that’s something inside, you just can’t judge that, those are things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet.”

Clay Watterson: “It just inherits the many traits other than football athleticism, is able to know the game I guess, a little better than just the x’s and o’s, be a good all-around player and teammate as well, on and off the field, too.”

Kym Maye: “It’s inside you, something that was already created when you were born, it embodies everything...it’s the energy, it’s everything you want in a team”

So there you have it, what intangibly rich means to the people of Jacksonville, who also said they hope the team uses that philosophy to make the next picks in the NFL Draft.

The Jaguars have no picks in the second round on Friday night, thanks to the Hunter trade, but have multiple picks in the following rounds.
