Trash service in St. Marys may be interrupted as fire concerns at county landfill persist

ST. MARYS, Ga. – The City of St. Marys said on Tuesday that residents in the area could see service interruptions to trash services because the city is still working through fire concerns at the county landfill.

Two fires have burned the landfill in the last month.

The city said Cumberland Services will continue trash pickup as long as possible but “due to events out of our control, there may be delays.

The city said it will provide updates as soon as anything changes.

A fire broke out at the Camden County MSW Landfill on Saturday, and crews were called to the scene.

Last month, on March 26, another fire sent smoke and flames high in the air.
