GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A video shared by the Gainesville Police Department on Monday shows the moment when a man fired multiple shots into a frightened crowd during an Easter event.
The shocking video shows an unidentified man wearing red shorts and a gray hoodie opening fire around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday at TB McPherson Park as people were leaving.
The shooting caused panic in the crowd and dozens of people could be seen running for safety. Two people, a man and a woman, can be seen in the video jumping on the ground to cover what appears to be a small child as the gunman runs away, firing.
Police said three people were struck during the shooting.
All three people were taken to UF Shands. One person had life-threatening injuries while the other two are expected to survive.
Investigators are now searching for the shooter.
