Video shows man wearing snorkel mask using gun to rob St. Augustine bank; FBI, SJCSO investigating

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the Jacksonville FBI chapter are continuing their investigation of a robbery at an Ameris Bank in St. Augustine on April 9.

The bank is located at 4070 US-1. Officials said there were no injuries.

The suspect can be seen on surveillance video walking into the bank with a black semi-automatic handgun. He ordered the bank tellers to move away from their stations, then he climbed over the counter, took cash from the stations and put it into a plastic bag.

Officials said the suspect was in the bank for approximately one minute and 20 seconds before fleeing on foot.

He was seen on surveillance video at a nearby business walking south on a jogging trail toward Palermo Road after the robbery.

The suspect wore an Ozark snorkel mask, black neck gaiter, grey hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, vinyl gloves, and white Adidas running shoes.

The suspect is described as a thin, athletic build white male with blonde or sandy colored hair wearing goggles and 5′10″ tall.
