Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, the University of Florida in Gainesville and the University of South Florida in Tampa are all seeking to deputize their campus police for immigration enforcement, representatives for the schools confirmed to The Associated Press.

Under the agreement, campus police would be trained to “perform certain functions of an immigration officer under the direction and supervision of ICE.”

The police would have the ability to interrogate, arrest, and issue warrants for an illegal immigrant.

Since the agreement is still pending, there isn’t a timeline for when the changes would go into effect.
