RFK Jr. and Dr. Oz praise Indiana Governor’s executive order removing sodas and candy from SNAP benefits

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and Indiana Governor Mike Braun spoke in Indianapolis Tuesday morning.

Governor Braun announced the “Make Indiana Healthy Again” initiative that includes nine executive orders to improve health in the state.

One of them removes candy and soft drinks from SNAP benefits.

“More SNAP money is spent on sugar drinks and candy than on fruits and vegetables. That changes today”, Braun said.

He also said Indiana is starting the “Governor’s Fitness Test” to encourage physical activity in schools.

Dr. Mehmet Oz praised the executive orders saying they “make it easy for moms to do the right thing for their kids”.

The executive orders fall in line with RFK Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement that includes a push to reform the U.S. food system.

RFK Jr. says big food companies are “poisoning the American people” with addictive substances like sodium and sugar.

“They realized at some point they could hijack the human brain in all these nefarious ways. One of the ways your brain tells your stomach that it’s full is how many times you chew. They began adding food softeners to our food so that your brain would be under the illusion that you aren’t full. You could inhale 20 Twinkies and still want more because you’re not chewing them.”, RFK Jr. said.
