JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More details were released Wednesday in the deputy-involved shooting that happened after a 55-year-old “suicidal” woman came at deputies with a gun.

According to the CCSO, deputies received a call from Heather Tipton’s friend, who told deputies that Tipton was suicidal and had threatened suicide by law enforcement.

The friend said Tipton was on Facetime with her, holding a gun as she made the threats.

Deputies Tyler Elias and Justin Mosley responded to the Cobblestone at Eagle Harbor condo complex off CR-220 in Fleming Island around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

CCSO said Tipton came from around the corner of her apartment building with a gun in one hand and a cell phone in the other.

The deputies told her to drop the gun, but they said she did not comply and continued to walk toward them.

Then, Tipton raised the gun toward the deputies, causing Elias and Mosley to shoot her.

Tipton was taken to the hospital. The sheriff’s office said she remained in critical condition on Wednesday but was stable.

No deputies were injured.

Elias had worked for CCSO for three-and-a-half years, and Mosley has worked for them for four years.
