St. Augustine Police Chief suspended for 1 day for violating the city’s electronic communications policy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – St. Augustine Police Chief Jennifer Michaux was recently suspended for one day after violating city policy, News4JAX confirmed with the police department on Thursday.

A department spokesperson said she was suspended “a few weeks ago” for “violating the city’s electronic communications policy.”

News4JAX is trying to learn exactly what happened and has asked the department for more information.

According to her bio on the city’s website, Michaux began her police career in 1995 with the St. Augustine Police Department. She became the first female police chief to lead the department in 2021.

During Chief Michaux’s career with the department, she has served as Commander of Administration, Commander of Patrol, Sergeant of Patrol, Sergeant of Internal Affairs, and Sergeant of Training. Chief Michaux’s experience includes traffic homicide investigator, motor officer, defensive tactics instructor, and field training officer.
