Jacksonville fans still root for Gators to clinch win despite turnovers in first half

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville fans at the Island Wing Grill still held out for a Gators championship win as the national game started off a little rocky with turnovers in the first half.

The Florida Gators men’s basketball team competed for a National Championship against the Houston Cougars in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday night.

“It was a little nervous, a little jitter, but I think second half, we play Gator ball, we should be good,” AJ told News4JAX.

AJ remained confident in his team because of his faith in Florida native Walter Clayton Jr.

“When he starts to roll and the other players start getting into it, we will be good,” he assured.

Renee Gordon, a Jacksonville Gator Club board of director, said she wasn’t let down either.

“It’s very tense,” she said. “I was pounding the table when they don’t make the basket.”

Another fan wasn’t sweating it as well, as he said the team was still going to pull out a win by the time the final buzzer went off.
