Thousands of federal workers have lost their jobs in recent months as President Donald Trump’s administration has aimed to reshape the federal workforce with the help of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

The administration has closed agencies, laid off probationary employees who have not yet gained civil service protection and offered buyouts through a “deferred resignation program.”

The cuts have affected people from around the country, including in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
