JSO seeking information in 2023 triple murder at Southside apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is seeking information in a 2023 triple murder at a Southside apartment complex that left a 3-year-old dead.

On September 23, 2023, at around 10 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 8000 block of A.C. Skinner Parkway.

Police found Jaquann Mitchell, 23, Keonte Johnson, 24, and Kae’lynn Matthews, 3, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Mitchell was declared dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue. JFRD transported Johnson and Matthews to a hospital where they died.

Investigators said Matthews’ mother traveled to the area to meet Johnson and Mitchell where multiple suspects shot at the victims and fled the scene in a black Kia Optima, which was later found burned on Jacksonville’s Northside.
