JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A tip submitted through First Coast Crime Stoppers (FCCS) led to the arrests of two people accused in the shooting death of 7-year-old Breon Allen Jr., the organization’s executive director Chase Robinson told News4JAX on Wednesday.

Robinson said the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Crime Stoppers, an organization that gives rewards to citizens who submit anonymous tips that lead to arrests, that it was their tip that led to the arrest of Donte McGhee and Tavaris Kelly, both 17, who are now accused of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Robinson said FCCS will be paying the tipster the largest reward in FCCS history — $25,000.

McGhee’s and Kelly’s arrests marked a total of six people charged in Allen’s murder.

“They are the actual gunmen who carried out this horrific and brutal shooting,” Sheriff T.K. Waters said.

FCCS says the community has been instrumental in dozens of cases: 132 murders solved since 2002, as of 2024.

Robinson said the organization is building on that by reaching a younger community and making things easier with a mobile app called P3 Tips. The app allows you to select a location, submit a tip and stay anonymous.
