JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A recent arrest of a 24-year-old man made the eighth arrest in the shooting death of a teen on New Year’s Day in 2024.
The shooting happened at a home on Castle Boulevard in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood on January 1, 2024.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it was initially responding to a home invasion when officers learned the call was upgraded to a shooting.

JSO said neighbors heard gunfire and found 14-year-old Micah Thomas suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.
On March 26, 2025, Emanuel Cuff was arrested as the investigation continued.
He was charged with murder and armed robbery.
JSO announced the first three arrests in connection to the shooting in June 2024.
Cuff, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, was extradited to the Duval County jail.
