On Monday, the 41-year-old Duval County man turned a $5 scratch-off ticket into $605,016 after playing and winning the “DOUBLE YOUR MONEY” game.

The man chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment as opposed to receiving annuity payments.

The ticket was purchased from Safer Discount Beverage, 8710 Lem Turner Road, and the retailer was awarded a $2,000 bonus commission for its sale.

The win comes about four days after a 39-year-old woman from Jacksonville won $640,000 by playing the “Year For Life Spectacular” scratch-off and marks the seventh time someone from the Jacksonville area has won a prize from a scratch-off game in March.

According to the Florida Lottery, scratch-off games account for nearly 75% of its ticket sales and have led to more than $65 billion in disbursed prizes, created over 2,000 millionaires and generated nearly $20 billion for Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
