“The last few years have been extremely difficult,” Forrest Bailey said.
Forrest is Tristyn’s father.
In 2021, the 13-year-old was tragically killed in a brutal knife attack.
“Her legacy is all we have left,” Brittney Bailey-Russell. “It has to be in a perfect shining ball of light of goodness and kindness.”
Brittney remembered her sister’s smile and laughter. Tristyn’s family said in the years since her death, they have learned so much about her. The Tristyn Bailey Foundation was founded to preserve the memory of the 13-year-old who was brutally murdered by her classmate in 2021.
The foundation hosted the second annual Tristyn Bailey Foundation Gala in St. Johns County on Friday.

The foundation aimed to empower the youth and raise safety awareness through community events that reflect its four pillars: scholarship, victim advocacy, self-defense and self-confidence, and education on the dangers of social media.
Hundreds filled the room to participate in games and auctions to raise money for the foundation.
It’s a night Forrest said reminded him of the impact his daughter had and will continue to have for years to come.
“If we can find ways that the things we do help take her spirit and pass that forward to others. That’s the important part of her legacy.”
