JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a continued effort to provide transparency, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released body cam footage in an officer-involved shooting of a 53-year-old woman in Oceanway.
(Due to the graphic nature and the woman’s mental health history, New4JAX is not airing or posting the JSO bodycam footage on our website.)

Officers were called to a house on Moose Road just off New Berlin Road on March 11 after Tiffany Leigh’s husband found her in their garage during what officers believe was a suicide attempt.
Police said the husband told them his wife suffered from an unspecified neurological condition and showed progressive decline and depression.
JSO said he told them that he found her sitting in the driver seat of the running car with a towel wrapped around her head in the garage.
Her husband opened the garage door, which caused the couple to start arguing. Then, according to JSO, Leigh went and got a gun.
Her husband called the police for help, and multiple officers responded.
Leigh walked outside and sat on a bench with the gun. JSO said she started walking toward the six responding officers with the gun. They told her to drop the firearm, but she shot at them multiple times.
They returned fire, shooting Leigh and hitting her several times.
She was taken to the hospital and continues to receive treatment.
Leigh was charged with five counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer and six counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
