JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced two arrests in the case of a 33-year-old man found dead in a burnt vehicle nearly two years ago.
The incident happened on May 20, 2023, when police said Edwin Mack was found dead inside a burnt vehicle on Lenox Avenue.

After a review of evidence and completed interviews, JSO identified Xavier Slater, 24, and Lucious Brown, 37, as the suspects.
Slater was arrested on a felony murder charge on Jan. 11, 2024. A little over a year later, police issued a warrant Monday for Brown, who was already in jail on an attempted robbery charge.
He was arrested and charged with murder, arson and tampering with evidence on Tuesday.
Mack’s family declined to comment on the arrests.
