Jacksonville man accused in murder of his 6-year-old daughter indicted on new charges

Tyrone Golson was also indicted for sex crimes in a separate case, court records show

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The man accused of killing a 6-year-old girl last year was set to be back in Duval County court Thursday morning for a pretrial hearing.

Tyrone Golson is expected to change his legal representation, and the State will be given notice of additional crimes he is charged with in connection to Jahrasha Golson’s murder case.

Jahrasha Golson was found dead on a bed inside a house on Allison Street in February 2024.

A medical examiner said the 6-year-old died of multiple blunt force traumas and poisoning from a drug found in over-the-counter allergy medicines.

According to an arrest report, Tyrone Golson was Jahrasha’s legal guardian and said during an interview at police headquarters he had “been in her life since she was 5 months old.”

A News4JAX investigation found Tyrone Golson was listed as Jahrasha’s father on her birth certificate.

In August 2024, Golson was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jahrasha. He is now facing a first-degree murder charge, which is an upgraded charge.

He is also now accused of aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse.

Golson’s arrest report says the Department of Children and Families tried to do a wellness check on Jahrasha a month before she died after the office got an anonymous call that Golson was possibly abusing her.

That report also said Golson did not allow DCF to inspect Jahrasha for any physical, mental, or emotional injuries.

According to the department, there was already an open investigation into the household before Jahrasha’s death.

Golson was charged with murder in Jahrasha Golson’s death six months after his arrest in the unrelated criminal investigation.

Golson is also charged with crimes in a separate case.

He was arrested a few days after Jahrasha was killed in an unrelated case and has been in jail since.

In that separate case, Golson is currently charged with unlawful sex with a minor, online soliciting and possession of child pornography.

He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges in both cases.

Thursday’s hearing is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
