ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old Orlando man died Monday after he was ejected from the SUV he was riding in during a crash on I-95 North in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, the SUV was headed north in the left lane of I-95 around 10:15 pm. Monday with six adult passengers.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from Orlando, lost control and spun out, slamming the SUV into a guardrail. The impact flipped the SUV onto its roof, troopers said.
During the crash, one of the back seat passengers, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and landed on the highway where he was then hit by a passing pickup truck, troopers said. He died from his injuries.
The driver of the SUV and his five other passengers suffered minor injuries. Troopers said only one of the passengers was wearing a seat belt.
The woman driving the truck that hit the man on the highway and her two passengers were not hurt, according to the report. All three were wearing seat belts. Troopers did not release their ages.
I-95 was shut down in both directions for hours early Tuesday morning but reopened before 6 a.m.
