No new evidence found in case of missing St. Johns County woman after tips led to vacant building in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said no new evidence was found after a day-long search of a vacant building in St. Augustine on Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office activated the search following several tips related to the case of Laura Bryant, who has been missing since 2022.

The sheriff’s office said Bryant, 44, hasn’t spoken with friends or family since December 2022.

One woman who told News4JAX she’s lived in the area for over 50 years vaguely remembers Bryant’s case.

“I’m kind of shocked about that, because I haven’t heard anything about that in a long time...They need to find the person. I know their family is pretty distraught,” she said.

Officials said Bryant lived in St. Augustine, but she may have moved to Lake City or another area of Florida.

The sheriff’s office said investigators are searching the building and former home of a car dealership and pool store located on U.S. 1 near St. Augustine South.

“Our Major Crimes Unit is taking every tip seriously and conducting a search in this area today,” a sheriff’s office spokesman said.
