Even fake phone threats against schools have consequences, sheriff warns

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – After phone threats over the past two days prompted lockdowns at two St. Johns County Middle Schools, St. Johns Count Sheriff Rob Hardwick joined us on The Morning Show to explain the very real consequences of hoax calls.

Neither threat call proved credible, but they prompted a significant police response.

The first call was at Landrum Middle School on Monday. The other Tuesday at Pacetti Bay Middle School. The calls came from an international number, originating in the Netherlands, according to investigators.

The caller threatened mass shootings, murders, and bombings.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating these calls. It discovered local schools are not the only targets. Schools nationwide are getting threatening calls.

Hardwick said regardless of the source of those school threats, international, domestic, or in our backyard, they will not be tolerated. And fake or not, there are consequences.
